The bed profile by which pellets are fed onto the roller feeder is a critical parameter to optimize both the screening and firing processes and is closely controlled by pelletizing plant operators.

Roller screens operate in combination with other different equipment that have an effect on both the performance of the screening function and also on the induration and the overall pelletizing line productivity.

The performance in energy consumption, productivity of the line and quality of the pellets would be affected by undesired variation in the profile.

The challenge is to avoid variation in the pellet discharge on the grate and ensure consistent firing of green pellets.

FIELD-PROVEN ELECTROMECHANIC DRIVE (EDM) TECHNOLOGY

 

Metal7 reciprocating conveyor enables the process to spread pellets uniformly in the wide belt conveyor, using our high performance OEM Electromechanics technology that replaces the traditional hydraulic drive system and provides many advantages.

EMD virtually eliminates the need for regular maintenance associated with a hydraulic drive, resulting in higher uptime than a hydraulic system. There’s virtually no maintenance required: no filter, no oil change, no spills, improved safety and it’s environmentally-friendly.

With the EMD we can profile the pellet bed to compensate for this effect, which allows for a more uniform heat distribution… improving the cooking of the pellets (improving quality and/or reducing energy and/or increasing productivity).

CUSTOMIZED BED PROFILE

 

On any projects involving a roller feeder, Metal7 considers all the other equipment surrounding the feeder.  Three machines operate in combination with each other to provide the required pellet layout: the reciprocating (or shuttle) belt conveyor, the wide belt conveyor and the roller feeder.

The best furnace feeding solution comes from the efficient operation of the three machines working together : more uniform and constant pellet distribution, thus improved pellet sizing on the roller feeder and an optimized green pellet bed profile on the traveling grate with a positive impact on pellet quality.

Our EMD technology allows to build the perfect bed profile, adapted to the specific needs of the firing process in the furnace. Metal7 engineers accompany clients in all the design and implementation processes to meet and surpass expected performance.
